Giving Hearts
Day 2011 was a huge success!
This 24 hour online fundraising event matched contributions of $10
or more
by Dakota Medical Foundation.
THANK YOU ALL!! We raised over $7,000 with an additional $4,000
from
DMF as well as an additional $1,100 donation from an individual
we will have over $12,000 for the new Palliative Care furnishings!
This
year, HMCF will be furnishing a Palliative Care Room (improving
overall quality of life for patients and families facing serious
illness. Emphasis is placed on intensive communication, pain and
symptom management, and coordination of care) that will include a
sofa bed as well as side chairs for the hospital rooms so family
members are also comfortable and able to spend quality time with their
loved ones.

HISTORY:
In the fall of 1986, the
Board of Directors of the Community Hospital/Home Association,
Hillsboro, North Dakota, endorsed the creation of a separate
Foundation for the hospital and nursing home. At that
time and still today, the foundation strives to accomplish these
health-related goals:

Some of the things that
the Foundation has done: |

The Foundation successfully raised $1.5 million for
a clinic addition to the medical center as well as remodeling to the
facility in 1997. The Foundation also helped facilitate a $2 million
congregate housing project which operates under its own non-profit
corporation. It opened in the fall of 2000.
Today, the Hillsboro Medical Center
Foundation is undertaking a $2 million capital campaign to build a
new 2-story nursing home and assisted living
facility.

EVENTS:
Throughout the year, the
Foundation hosts many special events for the community to raise
funds for the medical center and their continuing projects and
equipment needs.
The Foundation continues to play an active role in
the activities of the Medical Center and supports their special
activities as well.

WHAT IS THE ENDOWMENT FUND?
Your
investment in the Hillsboro Medical Center Foundation is an
investment in the quality of our community’s life. Monies
which are donated to the Endowment Fund of the Foundation are
secured and only the interest is spent. The Foundation is a
charitable organization with the 501(c)(3) status which is qualified
to receive tax deductible contributions.
